thrifty

Man, I haven't been thrifting for a long time. Too long in fact. This weekend Katie and I hit up the Goodwills. At one I found the amazing pair of Baby B'gosh short overalls. At the other I scored the black rain boots for Nelson. Then yesterday I hit up the Opportunity House. For $2.50 I picked up the Playschool Cobbler's Bench, the teddy bear, and the searsucker shorts. I forgot how much I missed the thrill of the hunt. Maybe I should start a weekly "thrifty" post to encourage me to get back out there.

Yes. It is decided.

I love this. I think thrifting is so much more fun because you find one treasure, not a shelf full that you have to decide which color and have this underlying sense that everyone else is going to have the same thing.Plus, it keeps down my greediness because I don't always find things and so I have to go home empty-handed and still content...

I passed a thrift store on my walk today and I thought of you and it was half-price clothing day so I ducked in and came back with two sets of pants for Kai since the newborn ones he has been wearing are very tight in the crotchal area and really highlight his package as well as a pair of cammo pants so his outback Canadian cousins don't think he's a urban pansy ass. Score.

I feel like I've only learned how to thrift in the last couple of years---maybe because I am more confident in my own style and preferences. I would love to see more thrifty posts.

Just don't make my mistake and try to thrift with a toddler. It's funny but pretty much impossible. She wants to take her shoes off and try on all the shoes. She wants to play with all of the toys. She DOESN'T want to look at clothes or housewares. But I will indoctrinate her to the ways of thrift when she is a little older.

Such great finds for your kiddo! I've been loving thrifting for our baby girl (who is due in October). The thrill of the hunt is SO much more fun than just going to Target and picking up stock from the shelf.
