Or maybe being afraid to fail, but taking the chance anyway...
I feel like if there is one thing I've learned from teaching art it's that you can't take away people's fear of failure, but you can teach them what to do with it. I usually tell my students that if you are afraid to do something, it usually means that you are about to do something big, and the more afraid you are, the bigger and more important the thing is....which gives you all the more reason to do it!
